Connect ChatGPT or Claude to Your Transcripts
Connect ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or VS Code so your AI assistant can search your transcripts and transcribe links for you.
Connect your AI assistant to TranscribeNext and ask about your recordings in plain language. It finds the answer in your transcripts, and it can start a new transcription from a link.
Before you start
A free TranscribeNext account is enough. Open Integrations → AI & API and copy the MCP server URL.
Connect ChatGPT
- 1Open chatgpt.com/plugins (Settings → Plugins → Browse directory).
- 2Select + (Add plugin), then add a custom MCP server.
- 3Enter a name, paste the MCP server URL and choose OAuth for authentication.
- 4Accept the warning and create the plugin.
- 5Install the plugin, sign in to TranscribeNext and allow access.
- 6In a new chat, type @ and select the plugin.
It also connects on the free ChatGPT plan, but what the AI can do depends on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings. On some plans ChatGPT can only search and read your transcripts, not start new ones. In a work or school workspace, an admin may need to allow this first.
Connect Claude
- 1Open claude.ai/customize/connectors (Customize → Connectors).
- 2Select +, then add a custom connector.
- 3Enter a name and paste the MCP server URL. If Claude asks how people sign in, choose Sign in now. Then choose Add.
- 4Choose Connect, sign in to TranscribeNext and allow access.
On the free Claude plan you can add one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds it in Organization settings → Connectors, then each member chooses Connect.
What to ask
- “What did we decide about the budget in last week’s meeting?”
- “Find every meeting where we talked about pricing.”
- “Transcribe this link: https://…”
Limits on each TranscribeNext plan
Searching and reading your transcripts works on every plan. Your plan only limits new transcriptions started from a link:
- Free: Google Drive and Dropbox links only, up to 3 a day, with a 5-minute preview of each recording.
- Plus: YouTube and social networks too, up to 20 a day.
- Premium: the same links, with no daily limit.
Claude Code, VS Code and other coding apps
These sign in to TranscribeNext the same way, no key needed.
Claude Code — run this in a terminal, then type /mcp, choose transcribenext and sign in:
claude mcp add --transport http transcribenext https://mcp.transcribenext.com/mcpVS Code — choose Install in VS Code in Integrations → AI & API, or add this to .vscode/mcp.json and sign in when VS Code asks:
{
"servers": {
"transcribenext": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.transcribenext.com/mcp"
}
}
}Codex, Zed and goose sign in too: add the MCP server URL in their MCP settings.
Cursor
Cursor can’t sign in to TranscribeNext yet, so it connects with a key. In Integrations → AI & API, create a key and choose Add to Cursor. Or add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json yourself and put your key in place of YOUR_API_KEY:
{
"mcpServers": {
"transcribenext": {
"url": "https://mcp.transcribenext.com/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
}
}
}
}A key in claude.ai and Claude Desktop
If you see Request headers, you can use a key instead of signing in: choose No sign-in, select the authorization header and enter this value:
Bearer YOUR_API_KEYRead-only access
To let an AI only search and read, untick the option to start new transcriptions when you allow access, or tick Read only when you create a key.
Important
A key can read all your transcripts and, unless it is read-only, start new ones. Use it only for your own connection — never in a Claude Team or Enterprise organization connector, where everyone in the organization would see your transcripts. Changing your password turns off all keys.
Disconnect
Open Integrations → AI & API and choose Disconnect next to the app, or Revoke next to a key.
