When you upload any audio or video file (MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, MOV), TranscribeNext:

The audio export preserves your original file format (WAV, M4A, FLAC, MP3, etc.), so you get back exactly what you uploaded.
File Size
Your audio file is stored in its original format, so the size matches what you uploaded:
- WAV files: Larger (uncompressed), but highest quality
- MP3/M4A: Medium size (compressed)
- FLAC: Large (lossless compression)
- Extracted from video: Audio track only, smaller than original video
Storage Duration
Audio files are stored along with your transcription:
- Default: Keep files until you delete them
- Optional: Automatically delete after 7, 30, or 90 days
- Manage this setting under Settings → Privacy
Important
After the selected retention period expires, the file and its transcription are deleted. Export the transcript and download the audio first if you need to keep them.
