Ask AI Chat About Your Transcription
Have a conversation with AI about any transcript: ask for summaries, find specific moments, clarify what was said.
AI Chat lets you talk to your transcription. Instead of scrolling through a long meeting or interview, you can simply ask questions in plain language and get instant answers grounded in the actual transcript.
Important
AI Chat is available on the BUSINESS plan only. FREE and PRO users will see an upgrade prompt instead of the chat input.
How to Open Chat
- 1Open any completed transcription from your dashboard
- 2On desktop: click the chat icon on the right side of the transcription page to open the side panel
- 3On mobile: tap the floating chat button (bottom-right corner) to open the chat overlay
- 4If the transcript has no chat yet, you will see an empty state — start by typing your first question
What You Can Ask
Because the AI has full access to your transcript text (including timestamps and speaker labels when available), you can ask things like:
- **Summarize this meeting in 5 bullet points**
- **What action items did we agree on?**
- **What did Speaker 2 say about the budget?**
- **Find the moment when we discussed the launch date**
- **List every question that was asked**
- **Explain the technical terms used in this interview**
- **What was the conclusion?**
Pro Tip
The AI only knows what is in this specific transcript. It cannot search across other transcriptions or remember previous chats from different files.
How the Conversation Works
- **Streaming answers** — responses appear word-by-word as the AI generates them
- **Stop button** — interrupt a long answer mid-stream by clicking the red stop button
- **Multi-turn** — the AI remembers your last few questions and answers in the same chat (recent context only)
- **History saved** — all messages persist on your account, so you can return to a transcript later and continue the conversation
- **Clear history** — use the clear button in the chat panel to delete all messages for that transcript
Limits
- **Per chat** — up to 100 messages total per transcription. After that, clear the history to keep chatting.
- **Per minute** — up to 20 messages within 60 seconds (rate limit to keep the AI responsive)
- **Per message** — up to 4,000 characters in your question
- **Transcript size** — extremely long transcripts (~120,000 tokens of context) cannot be loaded into the chat at once
Common Errors
- **"Maximum messages reached for this chat"** — you hit the 100-message limit. Clear the history and start fresh.
- **"Too many messages. Try again in a moment"** — you sent more than 20 messages in a minute. Wait briefly and retry.
- **"Transcript is too long for analysis"** — the transcript exceeds the AI context window. Ask about a specific section or shorten the file.
- **"Transcription has no text"** — the transcript is still processing or failed. Wait for it to complete first.
What AI Chat Cannot Do
- It cannot edit the transcript for you (use the Edit tab instead)
- It cannot search across multiple transcriptions in one chat
- It cannot call external tools (web search, calendar, email)
- It does not export chat history to a file (chat lives only inside the app)
- It will not invent details that are not in the transcript — if it does not know, it will say so
